ABOUT AWARDS
To honor excellence in the Punjabi Music Industry, ETC Channel
Punjabi has announced the 5th Annual Music Awards ETC
Channel Punjabi Music Awards 2008. The Annual Awards
will cover 25 different categories of the music industry from
singing, writing, composing to choreography and music video
direction. The award categories range from Best Pop Vocalist
to Pop Album, Folk-Pop Singer, Video, to Best Religious Album.
Categories like Best Non Resident Indian Singer and Best International
Punjabi Album are also included. The awards will also recognize
the Best Music Director, Lyricist, Choreographer and also honor
the legends of Punjabi Music Industry with Lifetime Achievement
Award.
According to Mr. Rabindra Narayan, President, ETC Channel
Punjabi, "Punjabi Music Industry is the most vibrant
music industry around the world. The popularity of Punjabi singers
and the Punjabi albums have shaken the National Pop Charts and
International Pop Charts equally. By these awards, we intend
to honor the excellence in its various form. Some of the veterans
will also be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Awards for
their remarkable contribution made in the field of Punjabi Music.
We are grateful to the entire Punjabi Music Industry which supported
the previous editions of Punjabi Music Awards whole-heartedly
and we look forward to their full support this year too in making
this event even a bigger success story. Adds to this Ms
Rajiee M Shinde, Sr. Vice President (Programming),
ETC Channel Punjabi and Zee Punjabi, "The selection procedure
is fair, transparent, unbiased and is modeled on the lines of
international awards of repute in which the general public and
an elite panel of judges will jointly select the winners. The
night will be made livelier with the performance by some of
the biggest stars of Punjabi Music Industry & Bollywood
Stars. The event will witness the special computer controlled
lighting and 20,000 watts of sound, which is rarely seen by
the audience of Punjab."
